user creation date

Is there any command or tool in hpux by which we can tell which user is created on which date.

Re: user creation date

Its not terribly effective or auditable, but you can check the creation date on the home directory. If this is a hard-and-fast security requirement, you should look into licensing Tripwire or similar utility.

It is possible for root to munge any Unix tool, so this is not auditable. If you must have this, then a 3rd party product is the way to go.

no. you will have to write a script that runs useradd and also adds an entry to a file or database telling the user creation date/time.
"The difference between me and you? I will read the man page." and "Respect the hat." and "You could just do a search on ITRC, you don't need to start a thread on a topic that's been answered 100 times already." Oh, and "What. no points???"

Re: user creation date

Hi.

If we dont talk about the 3rd party tool, which of course, can monitor this after installation, the user creation time and date cannot be determined. As far as home directory is concerned, it also changes its time stamp, and hence the creation time, which was equal to modified time, when home directory was created, is lost.
