xntpd and flags

Hi.

I need to be able to not have my local time synchronized if the difference between the local time and the ntp server is greater than 15 minutes.

Is there a way to accomplish that somehow with ntp.conf.

Thanks.

Re: xntpd and flags

Hi Doriane:

By default, 'xntp' wiil reject time updates if the difference in time is 1000 seconds or greater. Is that close enough? I don't know if this is configurable, otherwise.

Re: xntpd and flags

Hi JRF.

Thanks for the response. I also thought that ntp would reject time differences greater than 1000 seconds, however I couldn't confirm that through the HP xntpd man pages.

Re: xntpd and flags

Hi Doriane:

Take a look at "Installing and Administering Internet Services", chapter-7:

Re: xntpd and flags

JRF, thanks again.

I found it. I sure would have loved it if I had some kind of control over the value. Digital Unix xntpd allows you to change this value thru a -g flag.

Oh well. Can't have everything all the time.

Thanks again.
