   Or you believe that you do.  What, exactly are you trying to do?  On
what sort of hardware, and with which VMS version?  Commercial or
Hobbyist?

   As usual, it might be more helpful to describe the actual problem
which you are trying to solve rather than asking how to implement some
particular "solution" to that problem.

   I seem to have CD-ROMs with "OpenVMS Internet Product Suite Version
1.I" (December 1996) and "[...] 1.2" (January 1997), which together
apparently compose the V1.2 kit.  It's not all freeware, but
DFWS$TRIAL_PAK.COM on the second CD has PAKs for DFWS-VMS (Alpha and
VAX) with /TERMINATION_DATE=7-APR-1997, so I'd guess that the
non-freeware bits will be of little use to anyone.  (Of course, I'd also
guess that the freeware bits will be of little more use to anyone.)

    The Fortran compiler is not freeware.  You'd need to ask HP[E] to see
if you can still buy a license for that (obsolete) version.  I doubt it,
but I know nothing.  I'd expect that a more current, supported version
is more likely to be available.

   On the bright/entertaining side, the "OpenVMS Internet Product Suite
Version 1.I" (December 1996) CD-ROM includes some impressively old
freeware, including:

      Zip 2.0 (Sept 7th 1993). [...]
      UnZip: Zipfile Extract v5.0 of 21 August 1992; [...]
       [apparently UnZip version 4.1]

   I would, of course, recommend not using either of those
twenty-odd-year-old programs for any serious work, but as a fun stroll
down memory lane, ...

I am basically trying to mimic one of my servers to another server.  Looking at the two and what they have installed the only differences are Fortran 7.3-1 and Internet Products V1.1 are installed.  I know the software is out dated... but I need to copy this server exactly for our proprietary software to work correctly on it.

   I'd say that the easy way to do that would be to use BACKUP /IMAGE to
make a complete copy of the source system disk, install the copy disk in
the destination system, and then change the various identity items in
the destination system to eliminate the conflicts.

   Looking how, exactly? It's not difficult to install software on a
VMS system in unexpected places.  If you make a copy, then you've made a
copy.  If you attempt to install on the destination system all the
software which you believe is installed on the source system, then you
may or may not get a functional equivalent.  (My money would be on
"not".)

   As I recall, the VMS FAQ has a section on the identity bits (mostly
cluster- and network-related) and how to change them.  One critical
thing would be to keep the two systems isolated from each other until
all the relevant identity bits have been changed on the destination
system.  I'll leave the software licensing questions to others.

   This is exactly why actually making an exact copy would be wiser than
trying to recreate the whole twenty-year history of one system on a new
system.

   Hmmm.  Smells like Alpha.  My CD collection seems to jump from V7.3
(plain, not V7.3-1) (March 2000) to V7.5 (September 2003).  Perhaps
someone else could do better.

   I can't stand the guilt. BACKUP /PHYSICAL should make an "exact"
copy.  BACKUP /IMAGE should make a functionally equivalent copy, with
some differences, like defragmentation (a bonus, I'd say).  Probably
also smarter if your destination disk is newer/bigger than the source
disk.

You're not trying to make an exact copy, you're trying to make a sorta-kinda probably mostly-the-same-maybe copy.  It'll differ by those details you won't be able to replicate, whether it's system parameters or logical names or device names some arcane difference secondary to some patch or some variant product version.

In short, stop messing around with layered products, and BACKUP /IMAGE or (maybe) BACKUP /PHYSICAL the disks.

OpenVMS system disk copies  will boot on any hardware that is supported by the release.   (Unlike Microsoft Windows, etc.)

Having the software bits and using them are two different things.  In order for the kits to work (after installation), you will need l a license for each product.  Obviously the freeware won't, but the FORTRAN compiler will require a license to work.  Go ahead and use the torrent option to obtain the software.  Use traditional paths to acquire the license keys you will need to use the software.
