Vax virtualisation on Windows.

Hi,

We are in a process to migrate  VAX environment to CHARON VAX virtualized environment on Windows based servers .

Could you please help how to implemenet the same and what would be the strategy I need to set and requirements  before going for the migration.

Thanks

Re: Vax virtualisation on Windows.

Your questions don't lend themselves toa short response since many answers depend upon the software environment you currently use. I would suggest that you engage the assistance of a consultant with this experience. The seller of the Charon software would be a good start for a recommendation.

Please note that many that contribute here are providers of that service.

Re: Vax virtualisation on Windows.

The information you are asking for here should be provided by the company selling you the CHARON license.

Most CHARON sales include installation and configuration which should include addressing the issues you describe.

Full disclosure, we are a CHARON reseller.

Best regards,

How to get the content (list of global symbols) of a shareable image

How can I list the names of routines/functions offered in a shareable image ?

I only have the .exe file.

(OpenVMS >=7.3.2, AXP and I64)

Re: How to get the content (list of global symbols) of a shareable image

ANALYZE/IMAGE is the VMS supplied tool. Have a look at the documentation. The image formats for Alpha and I64 are different, so are the tools and the qualifiers. For both you want to look at symbols which define symbol vector entries.

Or, ask Google to find the VOIT tool set (VMS Objects and Images Tools), available for Alpha and I64 images. It contains imgexp, a tool to list all what you seem to be looking for. However, it may require a newer version of VMS (not the OS itself, the shareable images) to run on. But it should be easy to get in contact with the author, who may be able to help you out.

Use analyze/image, for example:

analy/imag/gst sys$share:util$share

For what it is worth, /gst is default and has no meaning for I64 images.
