Openview 8.16 - Description Field

Does anyone know how to update the description field for each agent on a Windows using a script? I want to update all of my machines with a description, but I do not want to have manual update each machine in the console.

Thanks,

Try this

Set objWMI = GetObject("WinMgmts:\\.\root\hewlettpackard\openview\data")
Set objMngmtNodes = objWMI.Get("OV_ManagedNode").Instances_
For Each objNode in objMngmtNodes
objNode.Description = "new description 2"
objNode.Put_

Is there a way to do this using the ovownodeutil command?

What about for OVO 9?

Re: Openview 8.16 - Description Field

Hello

ovownodeutil does not offer you this option. So you may have to script this like you thought of. If all the nodes are going to have same description then you can use the script that Peter has given. If you are thinking of adding specific description for each node then you will have to expand his script further.

Check OMW Online help for sample scripts for PMD APIs and you can see some more examples that may help you as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. That is my exact goal - to add a specific description for each individual node. I searched the OMW Online Help and did find any sample scripts. Would you happen to know the page number or link that can lead me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Hello

There is no exact sample script listed in OMW online help that will meet your needs. However there are sample scripts that shows you some basics and you can find them under "Policy Management and Deployment (PMAD) API Documentation"

Hope this helps.
