Compression Problem
Hi all,
I have DLT IV tapes that where used as 20GB tapes and Veritas Backup Exec for Windows 2000 Server. The tapes no are specified as DLT IV 40GB. In Veritas Hardware Compression is possible, otherwise Software Compression is selected. But the hardware will not compress, it writes all 1:1 on the tapes. How can I get 2:1 compression?
Regards Marc

Re: Compression Problem
I assume you have a DLT40, if you are talking 20/40GB ??
Native default density for the DLTtape IV, with a DLT40,is 20.0 GB. The only available option is compression on or off.
You wantto make sure that the little amber LED next to the label marked 'compress' is on. Use the button to cycle through.
Be careful with using hardware and software compression at the same time.

Re: Compression Problem
Dear Marc,
Do not use hardware and software compression; oit is counterproductive. Enabling hardware compression with the software application should make the 'compression' LED illuminate on your DLT drive.
