HP StorageWorks DAT 72 'HP C7438A' +C8010A actual perfomance

System is
System Model : ProLiant DL380 G4
Operating System : Windows Server 2003
Service Pack 2
Symantec Backup Exec 11d for Windows Servers
HP StorageWorks DAT 72 'HP C7438A'
Tape C8010A

more details are attached

C8010A specs says that it can write 11 Gb/hour

With BE I get about 150 Mb/min

But when I test it with HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools
perfomance changes dramatically

|__ Device Performance Test Started on Drive (C7438A) (Tape0)
||__ Testing with 2:1 Compression Ratio
||__ Opening Tape Drive Tape0
||__ Rewinding Tape
||__ Writing 1GB of 1GB
||__ 1 GB written in 182 seconds at 5 MB/s
||__ Rewinding Tape
||__ Closing Tape Drive Tape0

|__ Device Performance Test Started on Drive (C7438A) (Tape0)
|__ Testing with Zeros
|__ Opening Tape Drive Tape0
|__ Rewinding Tape
|__ Writing 1GB of 1GB
|__ 1 GB written in 75 seconds at 13 MB/s
|__ Rewinding Tape
|__ Closing Tape Drive Tape0

So, the question is - what's the actual perfomance of those units?

Performance is always directly related to the system the drive is attached to. When you are testing with LTT you are writing raw data and the results will be different than what you see when you back up your system. There are so many factors involved. Here is a doc that will assist you in determining what your bottlenecks might be and how to get the most out of what you have.
