Problems with Positioning Slider-Picker of MSL-2024
Hi,
we have got an storage Library MSL2024 which has problems with the position of the Slider/picker. After initialisation the silder goes to the left side 1-2mm to far, so that the Sider/Picker is not straigt in front of the magazine or drive. This brings problems with any tape movement.
I have read that there are sometimes problemes with the firmware which causes an error "sled position not found". Currently installed is the Library Firmware 6.40 / 3.20e. But I am not sure that this is the right one.
Does anybody know which is the right firmware and /or how we can correct the position ?

Re: Problems with Positioning Slider-Picker of MSL-2024
Version 6.40 is already the latest.
If you have mechanical problems with the box, call HPE, they will swap the chassis including the picker.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

HP want more than 1000 EUR !!! I am sure that there is no mechanical defekt.
It is strange that there is so less info. Just swap when there is a problem - that is not the way we are used to

Re: Problems with Positioning Slider-Picker of MSL-2024
The lib is calibrating at power on each time. Thats all you can do - a power cycle.
HPEs support strategy for this product is to swap the whole box, hence there are no other spare parts.
IMHO this is a good decision (for customers with support contract), I remember the 200+ different spare parts for a MSL6000 lib - sometimes a real nightmare!
Of course you can investigate on your own for mechanical problems (sensors, motors etc), there are parts available on the web.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
