SAP Oracle Backups

I am running HP Data protector 5.5. I am tring to backup a SAP/Oracle DB and I have no clue where to put the user name and password for the database. I have the schema owner account in the configuration page but the SAP team is telling me I need a sysdba account to access the database. Where do I put that? Is there a environment variable I need to use?

Re: SAP Oracle Backups

Hi there.
On the Oracle database you have a user named SYS, which owns the complete database.
Same as root on Unix. If you want to connect to an Oracle database as sysdba you either go with 'connect / as sysdba' or
'connect sys as sysdba'. If you use SYS, you will be asked for a password. There is a standard password for this user. SAP people should be able to tell you.
Why not go for online backups and backup the files created by it ?

Hi

Maybe SAP Note 168243 can help.
