Tape Storage

I have a 40/80 external tape drive running ArcservIt 6.61 . It seems that every night I receive a W6904 Tape alert stating that "no data has been lost but there has been a reduction in the capacity of the tape." Has anyone else seen this error.

Re: Tape Storage

We are getting this exact same message with BackupExec 8 and a compaq DDS4 tape drive. I have tried new tapes and cleaning, and the strange thing is that it was all working fine for a year, so I don't think configuration is the issue. My gut feeling now is that it is symptomatic of failing hardware.

Did you ever manage to resolve this satisfactorily?
