Autoloader 818

I'm having a small problem with the autoloader 818 in windows 2000 server.

The drive is installed and working 100% in Backup Exec 8.6. Windows picks up the autoloader as a "unknown media changer device". backup exec will not pick this up and use it's own drivers for the autoloader. I've downloaded the diagnostic tool for the drive and it also picks up the meida-changer as an unsupported device, can anyone please help me.

the drives is acctualy a 418 and not a 818 as i thought

try releasing the device from BEX. Go to devices in BEX, highlihght that device, select property, go to 'configuration' tab and uncheck the box 'enable device for BEX'or(insure that it was orginally checked), then delete it, close BEX.
[while disabled, the device is available for use with other driver/software combos.]
Stop & restart the services, open BEX and re run the hardware wizard.
we are using a hp 418 here without any problems.
