HP Ultrium StorageWorks 1760 SCSI tapes constantly soft loading/ejecting

Been using an HP Ultrium StorageWorks 1760 internal SCSI drive for a few years now, it gets a fair amount of use but nothing excessive.

Recently it had some problems reading tapes manufactured by Dell, a small hiccup I thought, tried another HP tape in the drive and it worked fine.

Since then the drive has got worse and worse. Pretty much any tape I put in it will constantly cause the drive to soft load/eject the tape over and over when trying to perform a write operation. It will do this for a long time, until eventually stopping and flashing clean/tape lights.

Used a cleaning tape several times to no avail.

Attached is the LTT log.

Hope the drive isn't completely useless.

There are read and write errors reported. The suggestion is to use a cleaning and a new data tape, but IMHO the drive itself is worn out and going bad. I assume you need a new drive.
