MSL G3 Series 2024 FW Update failed to Ultrium 5-SCSI drive
I was using the LTT ( Windows Server 2008 R2 - LTT 4.16 ) to update the firmware on the drives in my MSL 2024 and the tool said failed after 720s and went unresponsive. After 10mins I closed the tool ( was just white box on screen by this time ) and now the Web Interface to MSL reports the below and windows does not detect the drives. Any help would be greatfully recieved.

Re: MSL G3 Series 2024 FW Update failed to Ultrium 5-SCSI drive
i had nearly the same issue with an msl8096 and 4x lto4 drives. one drive had the same status. i had to power off the library (reboot was not possible). i suggest to wait 2-3 minutes after power off. then restart it. after that, check the fw status....

Re: MSL G3 Series 2024 FW Update failed to Ultrium 5-SCSI drive
Got similiar situation yesterday, upgraded 3280FC in MSL4048, after fw upgrade (to I6GW) drive got stuck with "Update" (not in "Drive FW Upgrade"). It successfuly updated FW (webadmin showed new version), but didn't want to do anything.
Left it alone for a night, nothing changed.
From library front panel powered off drive and sent library to reboot.
After reboot everything started working.
Hope this would be helpful to someone.

Re: MSL G3 Series 2024 FW Update failed to Ultrium 5-SCSI drive
>> With MSLs its better to update the firmware through the web-gui
Agreed. It works fine with MSL G3 and G2 autoloader
>> LTT is meant to update stand alone tape drives
Not really. It supports many libraries too.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
