Tape NOT work after Hardware Error
Hi all,
I have a HP Ultrium 6-SCSI SAS tape connected to marvell SAS HBA under fedora linux 19 x64 (3.10.9-100.fc18.x86_64).
And when I achieve about 20GB data to the tape.
time tar cf /dev/st0 dat
It failed in the middle:
tar: /dev/st0: Cannot close: Input/output error
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
real 4m11.862s
user 0m3.403s
sys 0m43.625s
and the kernel reports:
[ 2896.932143] st0: Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]
[ 2896.937403] st0: Add. Sense: Internal target failure
Following is full kernel message from driver loading to error occurred:
[ 2105.485800] mvsas 0000:01:00.0: mvsas: driver version 0.8.16
[ 2105.491664] mvsas 0000:01:00.0: mvsas: PCI-E x8, Bandwidth Usage: 5.0 Gbps

[ 2896.932143] st0: Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]
[ 2896.937403] st0: Add. Sense: Internal target failure
And then I reboot the machine and found that the driver did not detect the HP tape device.
And I shutdown the tape and start it again.
Found the the fan is working, but no motor's noise and no LED flashing or light on.
Is there any body know what happened to the tape and what can I do?
