dat24 shud allow for 24GB compressed but it isnt

Hi, I have a dat24 that I believe should allow for a 24GB backup on a single dds3 tape but it isnt allowing me to do that. Can anybody help me please? It is only allowing me about 12GB. On the backup script I have Hardware Compression on and still it is not working. HELP PLEASE!!

Re: dat24 shud allow for 24GB compressed but it isnt

It depends what you are backing up! A 24GB tape can ONLY hold 12GB of DATA. The 24GB is VERY Misleading! If you are backing up uncompressable data then it will actually consume more than the actual amount of space that the original files took up.

What OS are you using?

What are you backing up on the tape?
