Windows Server 2003 End-of-Support: A transformational moment?

johncummings on ‎08-22-2014 04:05 PM

As our HP experts have pointed out in several recent blogs (see the list at the end of this post), Microsoft will no longer offer security updates or support for Windows Server 2003 after July 14, 2015. IT leaders may want to start planning soon for whatever comes next, so that they can ensure continuity of service and avoid opening up their networks to attack.

For many businesses, a migration to Windows Server 2012 will be the natural choice. But it’s by no means the only option. Saying goodbye to WS2003 is an opportunity to launch a transformation that could include Cloud and advanced platforms that weren’t even around when WS2003 hit the market.

Check out the video below for a great overview of what’s involved in the switchover. Paul LaChance, HP’s Worldwide Datacenter Consulting Portfolio Strategist, and Microsoft’s Vanessa Fournier look at the 4 phases of a migration and some of the options for new efficiencies:

Paul and Vanessa teamed up for a session at HP Discover in June titled Windows Server 2003 End of Life migration planning for your workloads. Page through the slides below to learn about strategies, possible destinations, and tools.
