Backup /stand/vpdb

Before commencing an upgrade of VPARs I want to take a backup of /stand/vpdb.

What is the recommended way to do this?

Thanks,
Belinda

Re: Backup /stand/vpdb

Do something like

# cp -p /stand/vpdb /stand/vpdb.mybackup

Hope this helps!

Re: Backup /stand/vpdb

you can also use make_tape_recovery or make_net_recovery.

Re: Backup /stand/vpdb

Thanks, I wasn't sure if you could just copy as it is a database.

Re: Backup /stand/vpdb

It is just a database *file*.

You can use an alternate database file while starting the vpmon, example:

ISL> hpux /stand/vpmon -D /stand/vpdb.sim -a

To be on a safe side, make an ignite backup before updating.

Hope this helps!
