PA binary executables in a guest VM on Integrity Host

Can PARISC HP-UX 11iV2 be run as a VM Guest on an Integrity rx3600 Host (real machine)?

Shalom,

Yes. There is an emulation called Aires, built into the OS.

Better however to recompile the app because using this emulator results in a 70% performance hit.

Re: PA binary executables in a guest VM on Integrity Host

Bonsoir Paul,

Not sure, but I understood that you would like to run a VM Guest with 11iv2 PA-RISC. If I understod correctly the answer is NO.

A VM Guest is like an Itanium hardware. So you can only install OS version dedicated to Itanium. That's true for HP-UX, Windows an Linux.

What SEP wanted to point is that you can run PA-RISC applications in an Itanium box. As previously said, the OS is HP-UX for Itanium and PA-RISC code is executed through an emulation box called Aries.
