on A400 MPE/iX 7.0 pp1 can I use an ST336706LW 36Gb SCSI drive?

By gift I've been given a Seagate ST336706LW 36Gb SCSI drive. I'd like to use this on my A400 instead of my desktop pc. SYSGEN IO recognizes the device id but I'm still not sure that when I get this thing hooked up with the SCSI ID# set & cables that the OS will actually talk to & use this drive.

Any comments?

Hello Matthew,

The ST336706LW has been supported for use on the A400/7.0 since patch MPELXC3 (superceded by MPELXV9, which was included in power-patch one). If you have power-patch one, then your system should have no trouble talking to this drive.
A problem well defined is half solved.

Thank you for such a prompt reply! Wow, 10 minutes! I'll get the cables and hook this thing up! Many thanks!

Matthew,

Just a word of caution on installing a 'cold' disc onto your system. I'd recommend installing it a a private volume first, let it spion for a while before attaching it to either your system volume set or another private volume.
