HPE OfficeConnect 1950 - change PVID via SNMP only possible on Hybrid ports
Hi All,
i was trying to change the PVID of a port in access mode, but i got the following response:
snmpset -v 2c -c <private> <switch> 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.5.1.1.31 u 100 Error in packet. Reason: inconsistentValue (The set value is illegal or unsupported in some way) Failed object: iso.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.5.1.1.31
If i change the port-mode to "Hybrid" its working without a issue. I can't see any reason why this should not be possible on a access-mode port. Possible a bug?
Thanks!

Re: HPE OfficeConnect 1950 - change PVID via SNMP only possible on Hybrid ports
Howdy,
To the best of my knowledge the PVID is only really relevant on an interface when it is in a mode where multiple vlans are possible. The PVID is the vlan where some of the behind the scenes magic happens like discovery frames and BPDUs on trunk and hybrid ports.
On an access port there is only the one untagged vlan associated so no need for an additional piece of config to define a PVID as it can only be the access vlan.
Hope that helps.
Ian
