Re: HP to ship Core OS and Applications on DVD. Questionnaire for customers

Like the others, I'd be more willing if I had a dvd. I've got old stuff, and management isn't gonna give me money to buy a drive unless neccesary (if even then). do dvd drives even come standard yet? all the workstations I see still have a cd drive. best bet is to provide both until dvd's are standard equipment and the old stuff is mostly phased out. Maybe offer dvd free and cd's for a small fee in a few years.

Re: HP to ship Core OS and Applications on DVD. Questionnaire for customers

Pros: Less Digital Media to store, more capacity per Disk, new shiny toys to play with.

Cons: Compatability issues, ability to duplicate, transition to new format.

Yes, I like the idea! How long will CD media be supported / produced for?

How about going to the 'media-less office' and downloading Support Packages and Software via the Internet?

Re: HP to ship Core OS and Applications on DVD. Questionnaire for customers

If you do not have a DVD drive on your HP box, then might you be able to mount a DVD drive on a Windows box with CIFS to copy the data local and then load the applications from local directories, or even load directly from the CIFS-mounted DVD drive?

maybe let people choose if they want cd or dvd. But please get rid of the pizza boxes... why do you send 1 cds per box. It would be nice to get everything in one box.
