sqlservr.exe hogging database CPU

Hi,
I have windows 2003 + mssql2005 installed on server and sqlservr.exe is hogging my server cpu.

Service pack is installed, antivirus is up to date ( Symantec ) ...any hint is more than welcome

Thank you in advance,

Re: sqlservr.exe hogging database CPU

1. Maybe database heavily loaded? Or, database ir incorrectly written (i.e. stored procedures, etc)
2. Antivirus + SQL Server=Bad idea. Try temporarily disable your antivirus.

Re: sqlservr.exe hogging database CPU

It is not big database cca 5 GB and cca 20000 records, nothing big... I think I do not have virsus as Symantec ( I hope it is correct report ) does not report anything.

How do you mean, antivirus+mssql = bad idea, what to install on DB as protection ...it is windwos :):)

Thank you for reply

If you insist to use antivirus at least try to exclude the sql data and logs folder from antivirus checking.
