Re: Memory

Memory

We have 4GBytes memory. We want to know the current usage to see if there is space to add another important memory consuming process.
We have tried different command but are getting confused about the meaning of the various numbers.

-> Into /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
lock 3.206.696
avail 3.684.920

-> 'Swapinfo -at' command
available used
dev 1.048.576 -
res - 1.048.576
mem 3.214.724 2.545.216
---------------------------
tot 4.263.300 3.593.792

-> 'top' command
real 448.504k (339.372k)
virtual 400.708k (330.228k)
free 390.208k

Re: Memory

Hi there.
Try to install glance trial version from the application cd. That will give you a real overview. If you like that tool, think about a license.

Re: Memory

Hi
you could also evaluate PerfView and MeasureWare

MeasureWare is able to collect metrics representing system usage and workload for each subsystem (swap,CPU,memory,network)

PerfView is a graphical tool able to make graphics from collection data collected by MeasureWare.
