ERROR: icapmodify Operation not approved
Hi,
I am facing an issue while activating four of my inactive cores in SD IA32.

The following valid codeword has been applied to the complex:
Right to Use Codeword
4 Cores
Use icapstatus(1M) to see the results of the application of this codeword.
NOTE: Application of Right to Use codewords does not result in the
activation of components. Use icapstatus(1M) to see the results
of the application of this codeword.
For cores: Use icapmodify(1M) to activate the cores.
For cell boards and memory: Use parmodify(1M) to activate cells
by setting the use_on_next_boot flag to 'y' or use parmgr(1M).
xyz:[/]# icapmodify -a 4
ERROR: Operation not approved because it would result in the number of
active cores exceeding the number of core usage rights across the
complex. Additional usage rights can be purchased from HP and the
associated RTU (Right to Use) codeword retrieved from the Utility
Pricing Solutions portal (http://www.hp.com/go/icap/portal), and
applied to the complex.

Re: ERROR: icapmodify Operation not approved
According to your first icapstatus output, you were initially using 2 cores more than you had usage rights for. Perhaps you had some temporary capacity time (TiCAP) that is now run out?
> Number of inactive cores: 4
> Additional cores that can be activated with current usage rights: 0
> Number of cores that must be deactivated (insufficient usage rights): 2
The blue line means that at next reboot, iCAP would have taken 2 cores away from your partition since you no longer had the right to use them.
When you applied a codeword with usage rights for 4 more cores, 2 out of them were automatically used to provide usage rights to the 2 extra cores that were already in use - and that left you with licenses to activate only 2 new cores:
> Number of inactive cores: 4
> Additional cores that can be activated with current usage rights: 2
> Number of cores that must be deactivated (insufficient usage rights): 0
Then, you successfully activated those 2 more cores.
