COnnecting to the Internet

Hi I just bought my computer and I am connecting to a wifi system that want let me access certain websites is this normal or should I be concerned about my new laptop. WHen I try to check my school emails it keep saying iI have to launch the HP network system to see if I have a problem connecting. What can I do to fix this problem?

What model HP laptop do you have? What Windows version?
