Cipher Level Password in HP 5900 switch
Has anyone experienced configuring cipher level password in HP A5900 series switches.
I created the local user "admin" , but can't get cipher level password to configure. I tried all different combinations, but everytime, the switch will error with "Invalid Password" not sure what the issue is. I created different user names as well,b ut same thing. I can cofigure simple password just fine and can also configure cipher level password at the console level, but can't get to confiugre at the user level.
Regards,

Re: Cipher Level Password in HP 5900 switch
Note that the 5900 switch runs the newer Comware 7. The process to generate a cipher password appears to be different to Comware 5.
I did a cut/paste from a 10500 (Comware 5) which had the same username/password combination. That worked, but it is not really a long-term solution.

Re: Cipher Level Password in HP 5900 switch
set the plaintext password with the 'simple' keyword. The switch should automatically 'cipher' it and display the hashed value under the local-user
