3par high utilization.

Dear Mate,

We have 55 TB storage and it is almost 99% utilization, but volume provisioning 25 TB only.

Re: 3par high utilization.

Hello @Dsinghp2002,

Compactcpg is one of the options you can try. Before running compactcpg, do a compactcpg dry run 'compactcpg -dr' to estimate how much space will be reduced after compactcpg. Based on the dry run result you can decide if it helps or not.

Dear Bhatt,

I ran compactcpg dry run,  but the estimate shows it will not compact enough data. What is the next step.”

Re: 3par high utilization.

Hello @Dsinghp2002,

I think the issue is only with FC dev type. Only FC tier is utilised 99%. Check if you can move some volumes to SSD_r5 CPG. That will release some space in FC dev type.

Hi,

Are you using zero detection of the vvols?
Would be nice if you could share the output of showvv -s

However I see that you've marked the thread as solved.

Cheers,
Dardan

One more option is:
I see all your volumes are residing on the cpg FC_CPG_APP. Identify what is the RAID type 'FC_CPG_APP' CPG is. If it is RAID1 or RAID5/RAID6 with very less ssz, then move some volumes to another FC cpg with higher set size. If not, you can create one and move the volumes as well.

Re: 3par high utilization.

Another option will be,
If there are any FPVVs which has good amount of unused capacity, please consider converting them to TPVV. That will save some good amount of space. All these are workaround to come out of the critical situation. Increasing the diskspace will be the long-term solution. After the situation is in control, you can convert the volumes back to FPVV if you want.
