iSCSI Boot-from-SAN with VMware ESX
Hey everybody,
I am working on a project where the customer want an "iSCSI boot from SAN" feature for his virtual machines (under VMware). We have the iSCSI connectivity option for the EVA array, but I don't know how to implement this feature. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Re: iSCSI Boot-from-SAN with VMware ESX
Hi Mark , Thanks for your quick response
But I haven't find an answer for my question: does VMware ESX 3.5 host boot from SAN with the iSCSI connectivity option?
I hope I were more clear this time.
Thanks a lot

Re: iSCSI Boot-from-SAN with VMware ESX
A VM cannot do a direct iSCSI boot, because it is missing the infrastructure.
http://www.emboot.com/
provides a workaround - it does the primary bootstrap via PXE (which a VM can do), then loads a SW iSCSI intiator which can chain to the OS.
