San layout

I have a rp7410 with 2 cells (Prd / Dev)
I have a msa1000 and a va7410 тАУ The va7410 is direct connected to both servers.
The MSA1000 is direct connected to the Prd server.
I have 4 hbas in both servers.

I have 2 AA979A switches тАУ not in use yet.
I would like to connect both servers to both arrays thru the switches.

What would be the best layout for this??
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: San layout

Hi,
maybe the HP SAN design referrence guide could help you:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00403562/c00403562.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
the pain is one part of the reality

Re: San layout

Generally, you'd want to connect one controller from each array to a differnt switch. Then connect one of the HBAs from each cell to each switch.

So switch #1 would have a single connection from each cell and a connection from the first controller of each array.

Switch #2 would also have a single connection from each cell and a connection from the second controller of each array.
