Win2003 software mirroring vs. Veritas Storage Foundation

Hi all,

I have a customer who uses host-based mirroring with various operating systems (e.g. Windows, VMS, HP-UX) on 2x EMA12000 systems. For Windows 2003 cluster (MSCS), they are using Veritas Storage Foundation Suite. They also have a standalone 2003 server where they want a mirrored volume with a plex on each EMA. Has anyone got any experience using Windows 2003's own disk mirroring (Dynamic Disks and Software RAID-1) on an HSG80? And is the performance comparable to that when using Veritas Storage Foundation?
If the performance and reliability are OK, then I guess my customer could save on the Veritas costs.

Thanks in advance,

Stephen

I don't know how Veritas works, but i know that if your windows software mirror becomes stale, is very common that you need to break and create the mirror again, and that would happen if you shutdown one EMA12000. This could be an administrative overhead.
