Waiting for Rebuild
I have a Proliant 6000. Quad Pentium Pro 200Mhz, 1.3GB RAM, Smart Array 3200, 8X4.3GB Hard drives configured for RAID5. Win2K Pro.
Everything has been working fine for years and then a hd failed. So I bought another one and installed it. Now, when I boot the machine, I get a message that says the drives need rebuilding and to press F1 to start the rebuild. So I let it go thru the rebuild process. The ACU says that it is rebuilding. After the rebuild process reaches 100%, the replaced drives' 3 activity LEDs all go out. When I check the status of the array, the acu says that it is ready for rebuild. What is going on? It seems to finish the rebuild but then goes back to the waiting for rebuild status. I've upgraded all the firmware in the computer and in the controller and have downloaded the lastest utilities from hp. But it still does the same thing. I'm afraid that I'm going to lose data if I don't get this fixed soon. Any help would be appreciated.
