Microserver Gen8 Debian FAN noise control

Hi,

I've got a problem concerning G8 fan speed & control on Debian / proxmox.

I try to install RHEL 6.4 and the noise is ok (0 to 6 % speed but no more)

I install proxmox which is based on debian wheezy, and the fan is around 37 to 39% with lot of noise.

I install hp repository soft (PSP) but there is no change.

Can somebody can help me to correct this problem ?

I try also lm-sensor + fancontrol but it say pwm don't find fan "compatible"

Have a nice day

Dof

Any updates? Running debian testing, fan @ 39% .

Re: Microserver Gen8 Debian FAN noise control

There is already a long thread on Microserver fan noise when using AHCI mode, it is not just a problem with Debian. Load the latest system ROM update and the fan will drop to 13%. If you are running the controller in B120i RAID mode and have the "hpvsa" driver the fan will spin at 6%

There has been a release of hpvsa for Ubuntu, search for the other Microserver Gen8 fan noise thread, the URL for the Ubuntu driver is listed
