building a basic san

I'm new to SANs and I'm looking into an entry level SAN via the MSA1000. Can someone tell me the basics on how it would, first, tie into a two server cluser, and second, allow additional nodes into the cluser, or third, allow single servers to attach to it. I'm interested in how the HBAs connect to the switch in both a secure and non-secure manner. Also, is the Secure Path software a must ... do I HAVE to use this software in order for the failovers to work on the MSA1000?

Much thanks in advance!!!
