Powering mission-critical communications with HPE OEM Solutions
Everyone relies on wireless devices for daily communication. But in high-stakes fields such as public transport, security, and emergency response, communication simply cannot failโand that means consumer-grade devices are not an option. To keep both their teams and the public safe, these professionals rely on mission-critical wireless communication technology, such as police walkie-talkies and railway emergency intercoms. Metropolitan Wireless International (MWI) is a Singapore-based company whose software is trusted throughout Asia to power these critical communication systems.
MWIโs customers trust its softwareโbut until 2019, that was all the company provided. MWIโs end users had to assemble their servers and hardware, load the infrastructure with MWIโs product, and test it themselves. The company wanted to take its service a step further, offering servers pre-loaded with software as an all-in-one, ready-to-use system. As failure is not an option for these mission-critical systems, MWI needed a highly reputable hardware provider that was trusted by both the company and its customers. In response to its customerโs needs, MWI partnered with the HPE OEM program and selected the HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 servers.
Today, HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 servers are used in many of MWIโs most important projects, including Malaysiaโs KTMB railway system and all newer projects in India. MWIโs RailHUB communications system enables seamless communication on complex rail systems, which include multiple audiences such as passengers, station employees, and train operators. HPE servers help ensure important messages are received by passengers, through voice or text, allow stations to monitor train progress, as well as enable on-board, real-time monitoring.
According to Malcolm Ong, CEO, Metropolitan Wireless International, โHPEโs reputation and the assurance that the servers are high quality and locally supported is very important to us. There are very few companies that can meet those standardsโ. Through the HPE OEM program, MWI itself doesnโt need to be a worldwide presence. Instead, it can leverage HPEโs infrastructure to offer local support when and where its customers need it.
The HPE OEM program empowered MWI to move from providing software to offering a complete communication solutionโa more stable, scalable way for MWI to do business. Beyond these clear benefits for MWI, the company now has the knowledge that it is making its customersโ critical jobs easier, which is simply the right thing to do.
