11i vs 11

What is the 'i' in 11i mean?
Today is different and tomorrow the same.

Re: 11i vs 11

Well when 11i first came out it meant 'internet ready' or 'internet enabled' (kind of like oracle 8i)

Now? I don'y think it means anything... these are after all just marketing names - the engineering names are:

Mktg -> Eng
HP-UX11 -> HP-UX11.00
HP-UX11iv1 -> HP-UX11.11
HP-UX11iv2 -> HP-UX11.23
HP-UX11iv3 -> HP-UX11.31

Found in http://www.faqs.org/faqs/hp/hpux-faq/

HP-UX 11.11 and later are marketed as "HP-UX 11i." The "i" stands for "Internet" and means the OS is Internet-ready.
