Re: Browser for HP-UX

Sure, you can download Netscape from www.netscape.com.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Browser for HP-UX

You can download IE also from Micrsoft site. You have to go to IE for UNIX and then choose it for HP-UX.

Re: Browser for HP-UX

Netscape is available from HP as well. Netscape 4.75 is the latest version for HP-UX 10.20.

If you had 11.X you could run either 4.79 or 6.2.1. More info. here:

Re: Browser for HP-UX

From my experience, Netscape works better on HP-UX, I would not want to use IE on my Unix box.

just my opinion

Re: Browser for HP-UX

Hi Kirk,

you can install the netscape browser from the application CD. Or you can download the latest version of Netscape browser from http://software.hp.com . You can also download and install the internet explorer if you want.

Try this link for the browser from hp software site.

Hope this helps.

Re: Browser for HP-UX

i'd go for netscape becaue that's my personal preferance.
i know a bunch of people that rave about opera, but i don't know if it has an hpux port ( i believe the website is www.opera.com ).
i stay away from mie on boxes of mine. microsoft does have good ideas, but generally bad implementations.

with all the security problems it causes when interacting with other software, mie = microsoft internet evil

Re: Browser for HP-UX

I prefer the MSIE browser too be quite honest with you.
Netscape was good up until around 3.02 and that was it.

You can get Netscape 6 for hpux on software.hp.com and the java plugins... but it will probably take up half your disk and 90% of your CPU.

With MSIE, watch out for the Menus, they seem to fly all around the place.. use the quick keys - ie Alt F and arrows..

Later,
Bill

It works for me (tm)
