Disk I/O is 100% after storage migration
Hi Friends,
We Migrated our data from EVA to NetApp Storage. Operating System is HPUX 11.31 and Database is Oralce with SAP application. On Sapdata file system disk I/O is 100%, but on storage physical disk I/O is always less then 50%.
LV is not striped, is there any way to change them to Striped.
Can you please guide what can be done to reduce I/O at OS lavel.
Sar output is attached.

Re: Disk I/O is 100% after storage migration
There is no reason to expect identical performance between two totally different arrays unless the current EMC performance was carefully measured, and the disk size and layout identified, then the same sized disks, with the same layout is setup on the NetApp. Even then, the NetApp may have a lower performance controller.
You can't fix a disk array problem with the OS. And striping should never be done in the OS for arrays. The array is much faster and more suitable to handle striping. And most LVM striping situations eventually end badly when resizing efforts are not carefully planned.
Contact your NetApp representative for help. NetApp makes a large number of models (so does EMC) so comparing two random models without lots of details is not meaningful.
