Re: Hostname of remote printer server
Hi,
the hostname for a remote printer queue is stored in the file:
/var/spool/lp/outputq
Sorry the file has a binary structure.
You can display something with strings.
If you want to change a hostname,in my thought, you have to remove and recreate the remote printer.
Regards
Andrew

Re: Hostname of remote printer server
Just another hint:
If you have a networked based printer (JetDirect) the hostname is stored in the interface script in the variable PERIPH.
Interface scripts are stored in
/var/spool/lp/interface
and have the name of the queue.
If PERPIH is set to nothing (PERIPH=)
then the hostname defaults to the queue name.
Greetings
Andrew

Re: Hostname of remote printer server
It's depend on the name of your printer's spooler. For example your spooler's name is print49,then the filename is linked to spool directory is /var/spool/lp/request/print49
