McSG Installation on HP-UX 11.23

Hi all,

I am trying to install McSG onto a machine, but I can't seem to find the software listing on the CD/DVD using SAM.

I have the Application DVD 2of2, for which I have already deployed the codeword. Yet I can't seem to find the software listing for McSG.

Any suggesstions on how I should get started?

please mount the CD /DVD using

mount -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /cdrom

then you may check the contents of the CD
by moving into the directory.

register the /cdrom as a depot & then run swinstall through TUI selecting the product

swreg -l depot /cdrom

swinstall -s /cdrom

Hi Manix,

Thanks for the reply. I have performed your suggested steps but still can't see the software entries for ServiceGuard.

Is there a catagory in which the ServiceGuard software is present? The DVD content file lists ServiceGuard as part of this DVD. And I can see other software in SAM, but no ServiceGuard.

Is there a swinstall command via which I can start ServiceGuard installation manually?

try to grep the depot or the MCSG product
to make sure if it really exists.

Which OE media CD you have i hope it`s not
base or foundation OE media CD.

run the commands & send the output
this will make sure if the SW exists
or not.

swlist -d @ hostname:/cdrom | grep -i serviceguard

swlist -l product hostname:/cdrom | grep -i serviceguard

Hi Manix,

The swlist command shows the following output:

T1905CA A.11.19.00 Serviceguard
T1907BA A.11.19.00 Serviceguard Extension for RAC
T2803BA B.05.00 Serviceguard Extension for SAP


The media is "Application Software" DVD for HP-UX 11i v3. The media part number for this DVD matches the media part number on the license that came with the solution.

The OS actually installed is 11i v2. What I don't understand is that why does the ServiceGuard license list the media for 11i v3? Could this be a mistake in order placement or are the software on 11i v3 Application Software media compatible with OS 11i v2?

Please run

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s
hostname:/cdrom T1905CA

let me know if this do well !!

NOTE :: if you don`t need to reboot make it "false"

whats the exact command you are running ..

try

#swagent -r

#swinstall -s /cdrom

#swinstall -x autoreboot=false -s /cdrom

does it evoking TUI to select some thing
otherwise could be compatibility issue .

T1905CA is for both 11iv2 and 11iv3.

Yes, its a order misplacement mistake.

No, the 11iv3 application software cannot be installed on a hp-ux 11iv2 OS.

So yes, get the 11iv2 application software dvd's and order the correct mc/sg license to unlock the mc/sg software from the appropriate 11iv2 application software dvd.

after trying rest things i was about to conclude the same ..but i thought since the
MCSG bundle is for both 11iv2 & v3 ..it may go ..
