Netbootable image for HP-UX (9)
I want to netboot my server E55 server (9000/856) via bootp. With the PA-RISC linux, this is no problem using the PALO (linux loader).
I can netboot the uxbootfl file via bootp/tftp but how can I load the kernel. With
hpux lan1(60/6.0;0)hp-ux
nothing happens. What have I to define on the HP machine, what on the server (where must be the file it can be find).
Is there a possibility to make one image including the boot loader (ISL) and the kernel.
What have I to do with the config for hp-ux, so that I am able to use NFSROOT ?
I hope anybody can help me.
Please also contact me per email, see below.
With friendly regards

Re: Netbootable image for HP-UX (9)
The E-series systems are not capable of booting across the network. You need to have the OS loaded and running to allow connection to network and then download.
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Re: Netbootable image for HP-UX (9)
Is this really a point of the E-serie. Under Linux it is possible to create a LIFIMAGE including the loader and the kernel. (The problem is that Linux does not support all interfaces, and so I cannot use Linux, but I can boot the kernel ! via net !).
So I thought it is possible to create a LIFIMAGE including ISL and kernel !!
And is the ISL command
hpux lan2(60/6.0;0)hp-ux
not working ?
Or have I to change syntax ?
With friendly regards
