New MSL6060 tape drive install

Hi

I really need some help.

1. We have a new msl6060 4 drive tape library using two x fc->scsi cards connected to a fibre san switch.

2. I have a Dp 6.1 media agent installed on a HPUX 11.23 server also connected to fibre san switch.

Both are zoned up on the switch so that they can see each other.

Cell Manager is on Windows 2003 if it helps using DP 6.1

I need an idiots guide on how I make the HPUX host see the tape library device across san.

Currently the HPUX OS cannot see the drives:

ioscan -kfnC tape

displays nothing

I've been looking through the install guide supplied but cannot understand exactly needs to be done.

Hope this is enough info.

Thanks in advance.

Re: New MSL6060 tape drive install

You need to connect to the NSRs (e.g. web browser) and adjust the mapping to be indexed).

This is more or less the same as you present disks to servers.

http://www.hp.com/go/bsc -> manuals -> storage will provide the manuals.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: New MSL6060 tape drive install

Thanks

They arent currently configured on ethernet and they are in a different country to me.

Do I have to configure or can I use the defaults mappings somehow?

i have access the the tape library ilo itself using http but not the fc->scsi cards.

Re: New MSL6060 tape drive install

Just a quick question.

After zoning the drive and server do I need to reboot the server so that I can see the drives or not?

Thanks

Re: New MSL6060 tape drive install

No reboot needed, just an ioscan and likely an insf.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: New MSL6060 tape drive install

1.Connected to NSR out of band.
2. Adjusted index mapping.
3. insf
4. ioscan -fnCtape

worked like a charm

Thanks !
