NFS, mounting a win2003 directory on a HP-UX box

O wise ones,

I try to mount a win2003 directory on my hp-ux 11.20 box. Settings on the win2003 folder (properties/NFS tab): any client has r/w access.

I can mount the w2003 dir on my hpux box. But the security settings are 700 for 'nobody' in 'nogroup'.

If I try to cd to the mounted directory i get: permission denied.

Where do i set the uid/gid?

Thanks in advance, John

Re: NFS, mounting a win2003 directory on a HP-UX box

Check the event log on the windows 2003 server.

Also, you need to have the user id and group set up on the windows 2003 server to make this work right.

Last, you will probably want a machine account on the Windows 2003 server for each hp-ux box that needs to connect to it.

You might want to try using the CIFS/9000 client instead to do the mount. Though it runs on top of NFS, the core technology of CIFS is built into windows and is more likely to work.

Hi John,

As SEP pointed out, to mount windows filesystem over network, using smbfs would be better than using nfs.

Thanks for the responses! FYI we are currently evaluating nfs enterprise (xlink.com).
