Passwords on Samba

I?m using server level security. Is there a way to synchronize the smbpassword with the NT primary domain controller, or do I have to change the smbpasswd every time a users password is changed on the NT domain controller?

Thanks,
Beau

Re: Passwords on Samba

You can use your PDC for user authentification. Basically this works by setting security= domain and use your PDC and BDC as password server.

Have a look at this link: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/noframes.html

This is a good book on Samba which you can download as html or pdf files completely free!

Hope this helps. Stefan

Re: Passwords on Samba

in the globel section add:
password server = NT-SERVER-NAME
wins server = NNN.NNN.NNN.NN

Now you need the smbpasswd file anymore.

succes

Keep it simple, it really works.
