Problem with installing HP-UX 10.20 ACE

I am using a HP c3600 trying to install ux 10.20 ace. During the installation process, used std lvm, non interactive sd-ux for swinstall. But everytime it gets an error msg of- RFC exception: "Communication failure (dce/rpc)"
Could not perform the requested operation for "loopback:/", possibly due to network communications failure or the agent timing out. Check that the host is still accesible from the network, and the agent_timeout_minutes is not set too low.

During the installation i did not set for networking as my server is currently standalone.

Any one knows what is the problem?? and how to resolve???

SD-UX requires a network configuration in particular the hostname, ip and loopback.

Gather up this information and run:

set_parms initial

Also get your gateway ip.

The reboot will clean up anything hung in swagentd and you should be able to proceed.

during the hp-ux installation, I did not enable networking.
I am doing a new installation. My hp is not connected, it is a standalone unit.

everytime during installation it gets to the above error msg, with 4 choices.
1: load sd from another depot.
2. retry(non interactive)
3. retry(interactive)
4. run from shell.

what should i do??

Please do check your
swagentd is running.

You can re-bounce your daemon with
/usr/sbin/swagentd -r

As I stated before SD-UX REQUIRES A NETWORK CONFIGURATION ESPECIALLY THE HOSTNAME, IP AND LOOPBACK.

One of the work arounds is to assign the hostname with the loopback address, but you haven't arrived here yet because you haven't configured you network parameters yet.

So I repeat:

set_parms initial

Then ps -ef | grep -i swagent

...to check for the swagent daemon.

HP-UX is network sensitive, without the network you can't do any installation, since SD-UX check for hostname, IP during installation
