Re: RUNLEVEL

Users can connect from level 2 on, level 3 is default - so to what level do you want to change and why?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

In HPUX user can access the system from runlevel 2 and 3

If you start your system in runlavel 1 then user can't access the system.

Re: RUNLEVEL

Hi Samsung,

Users will be disconnected if you switch over to run level 1.

You can use init command to switch over to desired runlevel.
#init runlevel number

Re: RUNLEVEL

Like the others said, you can switch from run level two up to run level 6. Check the man page on init. It says that run levels 5 to 6 are for user defined run levels. You can customize the run levels by adding init scripts in /sbin/init.d and then linking the scripts to /sbin/rcN.d. Where 'N' is a single digit number 5 or 6. You should rc0.d through rc4.d depending on what type of system you have. You can also customize the /etc/inittab file. You should check out the man page on that as well.

So, start with these:

man init
man inittab

Hope this was helpful!
