Sendmail <Out of Memory> problem

Hi,
today my sendmail doesn't works. When I send a message from my hpux to external email address (with a RELAY parameter in sendmail.cf), in /var/adm/syslog/mail.log appear this message:

....to=depaolid@domain.it.....delay=00:00:18, xdelay=00:00:17, mailer=relay, relay=mailhost.domain.prv.........stat=Deferred: 452 4.3.1 Out of memory
***************
Sending a message from a unix user to another unix user (on the same machine), all works well.

Any idea ?

Hi

Try stopping and restarting sendmail

/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop
/sbin/init.d/sendmail start

Then test it.

That is the first thing have made, with no results.

It could be that the server that is acting as the relay is having the memory problem. Sendmail does reject message when the load average reaches a certain limit, and maybe this is all that has happened.
