Re: Unable to rise 100BaseTx NIC on a K360

Hi Andres,

The 100BaseTx NIC on a K360 is on HP PB Bus so first is make sure you have "A3495A B.11.00.06 HP-PB 100BT LAN/9000" Software installed.
Also what do you see in ioscan -fnClan command, do you see this card as unclaimed?

Cheers

Re: Unable to rise 100BaseTx NIC on a K360

I hope you have already tried to check what SAM sees.

I like Rajeev's suggestion of loading A3495A B.11.00.06 HP-PB 100BT LAN/9000

and then checking

thanks

Re: Unable to rise 100BaseTx NIC on a K360

Hi Rajeev,

A3495A B.11.00.06 HP-PB 100BT LAN/9000 is not installed on my server, i cannot found it so suggestions are accepted.

ioscan -fnC lan shows this:

Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
========================================================================
lan 0 10/8/1/0 btlan4 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN PCI Ethernet (10110009)
lan 1 10/8/2/0 btlan4 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN PCI Ethernet (10110009)
lan 2 10/12/6 lan2 CLAIMED INTERFACE Built-in LAN
/dev/diag/lan2 /dev/ether2

Re: Unable to rise 100BaseTx NIC on a K360

If you have a set of applications CDs, look on them. I *think* it the drivers you need should be on CD #1.

Without those drivers nothing is going to happen. Your ioscan output shows the HW and SW states to be UNCLAIMED and UNKNOWN. That indicates no drivers installed.

Re: Unable to rise 100BaseTx NIC on a K360

hi andres,

by the look of your ioscan you have a J3514A lan card for the K class server installed but no drivers present.

J3514A is a hsc type interface installed on your core i/o board.(10/8)

Install this driver from the application cd1, and then you will see the device claimed and then you will be abale to configur both interfaces as you desire.
If you dont have the apps cd then you try and just install the btlan4 driver through SAM. It maybe downloadable aswell.

I have some apps disks and i can see de "J2514A" subdir into the cd but when i move to it and ll -a i get in all disks an empty file list. I´m now trying download it and let me test this way.

Re: Unable to rise 100BaseTx NIC on a K360

You must mount the CD on the machine, invoke swinstall, point it to the CD and then scroll through the list of products shown in the swinstall window. From there you can select the software and install it.

Re: Unable to rise 100BaseTx NIC on a K360

hi,

yes you will see the directory looks empty, thats normal.

Do as patrick said.

Mount the cd in the normal way, run swinstall
#swinstall

then point it at the mount point of cdrom and select(highlight with space bar) the correct driver(j3514A).

tab to actions and and select mark for install, then select install. you may get warnings about patch dependencies.
The driver will install and then the system will need to reboot to move the new kernel into place.
You should then be able to configure the lan interfaces
