VxVM / SFO V4.1 License question

Hello,

let's assume that I want to install a 4P rx4640
with the new EOE Storage Management for Oracle
Premium product (T2792BA) in order to build an
Oracle Database Server 10g attached to an
EVA-4000.

I would install HP-UX EOE 11iV2 Sept. 2004 release,
update the Veritas products with the software
found here:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=VERITAS4.1

Now the question: would I have to register
any licenses with the command "vxlicense" and
if yes, what would they be called?

Would it give me full dmp, vxvm, vxfs and odm
support optimized for Oracle 10g?

Thank's much & Regards,

Arnold Sutter, redIT

Re: VxVM / SFO V4.1 License question

Hi Arnold,

Enterprise Operating Environment does include the full VXVM version.

Veritas 4.1 Upgrades - applicable only to existing customers using Veritas 3.5 with a valid support contract that offers rights to new versions.

So yes, and if I check the latest support info for the EVA4000, it is also supporting dmp.

docs.

Hello Robert-Jan,

Does this mean that I would see registered
licenses with the command "# vxlicense -p"?

Would I get a license Key if I order
Product# T2792BA?

Thank's again & Regards,

Arnold

Re: VxVM / SFO V4.1 License question

Hi Robert-Jan,

thank's again. Your latter link suggests to
contact Veritas for a license, although I'm
not sure wether this information is still valid
with V4.1.

I guess I'll just have to try wether the soft-
ware will ask for a license key at one stage
or another.

Best Regards,

Arnold
