Hello,
If you are referring to the '.Xauthority' file, it is a file created and used by the 'xauth' program, which "lets you edit and display the authorization information used in connecting to the X server", according to 'man xauth'.

With this .Xauthorty file I like .Xdefaults file. I used Exceed to logon to unix from PC. you can edit this .Xdefaults file and change fonts, color, scrollbar, pointer and etc..
