why no printout?

I've configured a remote printer attached to an NT PC. When I send my printing, it shows on unix queue "now sending" but nothing is printed.

Can someone help? Much appreciated.

Re: why no printout?

You need to enable rlpd daemon on the NTPC to get the requests from the unix server.Make sure it is active in the services of your windows NT.

BTW, how did you configure the remote printer?.

Re: why no printout?

OK. You anyway need to have rlpd (or equivalent service) answers remote print requests) to be enabled on the WIndowsNT system. Check control panels and services to see if you have remote printer daemon active.
I apologize for my windowsNT lingo.

Re: why no printout?

Hello Clarence,

for Windows NT4 I do see basically two ways to connect:
1) MS TCP/IP Print Service
2) HP JetAdmin

The first is part of Windows/NT4 - but not installed by
default; Right-Mouse-Click the "Network Neighbourhood",
go to "Properties" and then "Services" and "add" it.
Do not forget the "ServicePack" afterwards.
Then you can add a "local Port" which uses the
IP-address of the printer/JetDirect-box and for the
former use "RAW" as the "name" of the port, for the
latter the name of the port on the JetDirect-box, as it
may have multiple ports...

The other choice is delivered with Windows2000 directly
from Microsoft, and ist called a "Standard TCP/IP Port".
Port "9100" is JetAdmin, Port "515" is Berkeley Spooler.
